SoRCon (Son Of Ramsdencon)

Welcome to SoRCon

What is SoRCon?

SoRCon is an open board games convention.

SoRCon was born out of the hugely popular Ramsdencon, which sadly finished in 2007.

SoRCon (Son of RamsdenCon) carries on the fine tradition of friendly open games playing accompanied by various distractions which may include, but may not be limited to, the "Quiz-A-Hunt", New and Secondhand Games to Buy, etc.

Special thanks go out to those who supported the first seven SoRCons.

Thanks to your support we have been able to donate over 1000 to our chosen charity BOSP :)

When and where is SoRCon?

SoRCon 8 will take place from 2pm Friday 27th February 2015 through to 5:30pm on Sunday 1st March 2015.

We will once again be in our new home, the Holiday Inn, Basildon. If you missed the last SoRCon, this is larger and, we think by general consensus, better than our previous venue.

It is however noticeably more expensive, and although we maintained our price last SoRCon (unchanged from SoRCon 1) we can't do so again, and have had to raise our prices this year. Note that any excess money we raise either goes back into SoRCon and any other games events, or is donated to charity. Con't forget that if you book early, it's cheaper.

Additional information

Further updates will be published through the mailing list, Facebook, and the "sorcon" Yahoo group. If you do not receive emails, and want to, please email us and we'll check our records.

Essex Games Day

The SoRCon committee are also organising Essex Games Days at the Writtle Village Hall (CM1 3DU)

The next Essex Games day will be Sunday 27th July 2014

Doors will open at 9:30am and we will be closing at 8:30pm - that is correct, 3 more hours than previous Essex Games Days.

6.00 cash on the door. Tea and coffee facilities will be available on an honour donation system and various treats may also be available to purchase. It's probably best to bring your own food, but there are local pubs and a restaurant. There is also a garage or a small Co-Op about 5 minutes walk.

We will make an area available for anyone wanting to sell their games, but this will be a very ad hoc facility and we can not take any responsibility for the games. Please bring your own post-it notes or an alternative way for people to identify your games and the prices.

Further games days will be arranged and dates will be published on this website, through Facebook, the Yahoo group and by email.
